Seniors' Programs

Provided by Abbotsford Association for Healthy Aging

Provides various informational, social and recreational programs for seniors.
The following programs are offered:
  • Tech Savvy Seniors: This program lends out tablets (iPads and Samsung tablets) which can allow seniors to practice before purchasing their own device. They also offer on-on-one instruction or in a small group setting on an appointment basis. This digital learning is available on a variety of devices.
  • Seniors Social Cafe: The Seniors Social CafĂ© meets on Thursdays from 10am -12pm. The purpose is to give seniors (and their caregivers, if interested) an opportunity to visit, meet new people, participate in activities, and socialize in a safe environment. They are also able to provide transportation to those who need them. There is a cost of $2 to attend.
  • Friendly Visiting: The Friendly Visiting Program focus is on social support for seniors who have little or no support such as seniors, who are isolated, depressed, and/or who lack family and social connections. The arrival of, or phone call from a Friendly Visitor lifts the spirits of the senior as they know they have a lifeline. This includes when they are in the hospital or otherwise experiencing health challenges. Seniors can be referred to this program.
  • Crafts and Chats: A Monday morning activity and social gathering, including crafts, games, activities, book club, knitting, etc.
  • Life Box: Lifebox is a tool to help organize documents in the event of sudden illness or end of life.
  • Information & Income Tax Services: Provides information about senior services available in Abbotsford and Income Tax help.
  • The Book Bags: A free community book and puzzle-sharing service in the Fraser Valley for seniors and the homebound.
