Family and Parenting Programs

Provided by Hope & Area Transition Society

Various programs aimed to improve family and youth/parent dynamics.
The following programs are offered:
  • Key Worker Program: Key Workers work closely with people of all ages who may be experiencing a variety of challenges, concerns and or stressors. This strength-based service is designed to build capacity and connect individuals with relevant resources. Key Workers offer support in the following areas: Parenting Skills, Communication Skills, Conflict Resolution Skills, Physical, Social and Emotional Support, Life Skills, Navigating systems of care and Youth Agreements. Key Workers also work one to one with youth, ages 12-19, to establish safer and healthier lifestyles, build and or strengthen relationships with their family & community members and overcome barriers in their transition to independence.
  • Family Therapy: This program offers individual, couple, family and group counseling in a wide range of areas: family of origin issues, trauma, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, and parent/teen conflict. Working with families referred by the Ministry of Children and Families (MCFD), using modalities such as: Trauma Repair (EDMR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Art Therapy, Family of Origin Orientation and Adlerian Therapy. Participation in this program is by MCFD referral only.
  • Family Connections (Supported Access Program): This program facilitates meaningful visits between children and their families who are involved with MCFD or FVACFSS. Furthermore, this program promotes healthy child development, positive interactions between family members, parenting support, and education. These visits are arranged between the Social Worker, the parent, and the worker, to achieve a meaningful visit between child(ren) and parents.
