Anti-Violence Programs

Provided by Hope & Area Transition Society

Various programs aimed at reducing family violence and to empower children and women to recognize signs of abuse.
The following programs are offered:
  • Stopping the Violence: The program offers free, confidential individual and/or group counselling and support to women who are currently experiencing or have experienced any type of abuse (emotional, physical and/or sexual) across their lifespan. The service is feminist-based counselling, with priority given to safety and support. The program provides non-judgmental, empathic counselling to women 19 years old and over, and to teenage girls living an adult lifestyle where no other suitable services are available. Clients may access one hour individual sessions and /or group counselling.
  • School Based Anti-Violence Program: A psycho-educational initiative aimed at ultimately breaking the cycle of violence against women and children. This program is offered to all school-aged children in Fraser-Cascade School District. The program aims to help students to develop a sense of social responsibility, and tolerance and respect for the ideas and beliefs of others. This program can be used in meeting the social responsibility performance standards by addressing the issues of children exposed to domestic violence.
  • PEACE Program (Prevention, Education, Advocacy, Counselling, Empowerment): The PEACE program is a psycho-educational initiative aimed at ultimately breaking the cycle of violence against women and children. Children can participate in group sessions or individual one-to-one sessions. This program is for children from ages 4-18. Referral is required.
  • Sexualized Violence Response: Provides support to individuals who have been affected by historical or current sexualized violence. Customized wellness plans, accompaniment to service providers and community based referrals is our focus. Available also is workplace programs, education opportunities, one-on-one and group services. Servicing and supporting to the Fraser-Cascade region.
