Provided by Foundry
Access to Foundry Prince George services begins with the young person attending the centre and completing on-boarding paperwork so a chart can be created. Providers are encouraged to talk to the service user about Foundry as a voluntary, wrap-around youth walk-in clinic.
Services Include:
- Supports for parents and caregivers: Family Focussed Clinician holds lived experience, and counselling education. Caregivers can include grandparents, chosen family or assigned custodial caregivers. Call Foundry to get connected for individual support and/or join one of our many groups offered regularly. Caregiver focussed groups such as SMART Recovery Friends & Family, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Emotion Focussed Family Therapy, and Circle of Security are regularly offered.
- Counsellors: Offered as drop-in, first-come first-served, solution focused brief therapy, and in limited capacity (with internal referral) scheduled brief therapy. Counsellors have the capacity to support a wide range of counselling needs including anxiety/depression, identity, trauma, mood, and concurrent disorders. Please note that a weekly forecast of counsellors and activities is listed on the website, allowing youth choice and preference of connection, but that accessing the same counsellor each time is not guaranteed. This should be a consideration when assessing Foundry PG's suitability for referral, particularly for those with complex mental health and/or traumatic history.
- Group supports: Offered in a range from social and psycho-educational to specialized (including bereavement support for traumatic loss, DBT, Smart Recovery Family & Friends, Emotion Focussed Family Therapy, Circle of Security and coping skills). For more information please refer to the website.
- Peer Supporters: Support ranging from social connection to skills development to systems navigation. Each Peer Support comes from a place of unique lived experience
- Primary Care: Primary care offered by physicians, nurse practitioner, and registered nurse prescriber, and offered on a drop-in, first-come first-serve basis. Scope of care includes mental health, substance use (including OAT prescribers), gender affirming care, sexual health (including medical terminations), and contraception management. Youth directed to Foundry PG primary care for MHSU or GC will be referred back to their MRP for longitudinal care.
- Psychiatry: Foundry PG has periodic and sporadic access to psychiatric assessment utilized through internal referral only but has no regularly attending provider, and no access to psychologist. Youth with psychiatric care goals are encouraged to begin by accessing Foundry PG's drop-in counselling.
- Foundry Works and Education: 1:1 supports for youth to acquire and/or maintain meaningful employment and/or education where mental health and/or substance use has been a barrier to their success.
