Communicable Disease Control Services: Includes Immunization, TB screening and treatment, Handwashing education, Distribution of harm reduction supplies (naloxone kits, safer injection supplies, safer inhalation supplies, and safer sex supplies), and Referral to testing for bloodborne and sexually transmitted Infections (e.g. HIV, hepatitis C, gonorrhea and chlamydia). Call the Cooks Ferry or Siska offices to schedule a private and confidential appointment with the HHSS Community Health Nurse.
Maternal Child Health Services: includes Newborn care, Prenatal and postnatal care, Breastfeeding support, Child growth and development assessments, Referral to a speech therapist, audiologist, dietician, occupational therapist, and/or physical therapist Children’s oral health initiative (COHI), and access to maternity belts, manual breast pumps, nipple shields, prenatal vitamins, infant vitamin D drops, and childhood vitamins (for children under 5-years-of-age). Home and Community Care Assessment Program: Enable clients with disabilities, chronic or acute illnesses to receive needed care in their homes and communities. These services are delivered primarily by the Heskw’en’scutxe Health Services Nurse and Home Care Aides. To receive services, the nurse must complete the assessment in the client's home. The home care assessment takes approximately two hours to complete. The assessment includes questions about the client’s health history, medication, home environment, and their ability to manage personal care and household tasks.
The Home Care Community Services provides a range of home support services in the client’s home. Services include Medication administration and management, Wound, ostomy, and foley catheter care, Post-hospital care, Rehabilitative care, Palliative care and medical equipment and supplies.
Medical Transportation: First Nations Health Benefits provides medical transportation (MT) benefits to support clients accessing medically necessary health services not available in their community of residence. Eligible clients living on and off reserve may be provided with funding for meals, accommodation and transportation as required. MT coverage is intended as a supplement and may not cover the full cost of your travel.
Mental Health and Wellness: Clients can schedule an appointment directly, at no cost, with a mental health clinician registered with FNHA Health Benefits. Click here for more infomation

Other Services Includes:
- Foot Care Program: A certified foot care nurse is available to visit community members every 6 weeks. Clients living in the community do not need a referral. If you have any foot or nail concerns, please call the office to book an appointment.
- Massage Therapy: The RMT visits each community once a month. Please call the office to book an appointment. You do not need a referral; the service is open to all residing community members.
- Medication pick-up: A weekly medication pick-up is available on Wednesdays at the Stein Valley Pharmacy in Lytton. If you live in the community and wish to be part of this program, simply call the pharmacist and request for your prescription(s) to be filled there and authorize program staff to pick it up on your behalf.
- Monthly Shopping Services: Offered to community members who do not have a reliable mode of transportation to purchase basic supplies. Cooks Ferry takes clients to Ashcroft, Merritt or Kamloops on the last Wednesday of the month. Siska takes clients to Chilliwack at the end of the month. Please contact the offices a few days ahead to book a seat.
- Telehealth: is available at the Cook’s Ferry office, St Bartholomew’s Hospital and Merritt’s Nicola Valley Hospital by appointment. Call the office for more details.
- Swimming in Merritt: Offers complimentary swimming passes to community members to the Nicola Valley Aquatic Centre. Please call our offices to be added to our registry list.
