Restorative Justice - Chilliwack

Provided by Chilliwack Restorative Justice and Youth Advocacy Association

Trained volunteers provide one-on-one support to individuals who have caused harm to people and property and help prevent repeat offences.
Program brings the offender and victim together in a safe, respectful environment to discuss the incident and repair harm. Works to prevent repeat offences by helping the offender understand the impact of their behaviour on the community, the victim and their family, and themselves. Provides advocacy and mentorship to youth offenders, helping them reconnect to their community.

Program includes:
  • Classroom Conversation Circles: A ten-week prevention program offered in the Chilliwack School District for Elementary and Middle School students.
  • This Flagship Program: Builds on the mission statement of bringing together victims, offenders and communities after a crime is committed.
  • Restorative Response in Middle Schools: This program implements a restorative mindset for students in Middle Schools. It promotes positive interaction and resolution among students and school staff while reducing and preventing conflicts.
  • Communities Without Borders: This new program involves circle conversations with specific community groups such as seniors; youth ageing-out; and those experiencing homelessness.
