Care & Share Centre Community Programs - Chilliwack

The Care and Share Centre offers various programs to residents in need in Chilliwack.
The following programs are offered:
  • Family Services: The Chilliwack Salvation Army is able to make referrals to a wide range of other services for assistance. This includes addictions rehabilitation, Family Tracking for missing persons, pro-bono legal assistance, psychological and spiritual counselling, emergency travel aid, child care assistance, and children's summer camps.
  • Homeless Outreach Program: The Homeless Outreach Program advocates and supports chronically homeless individuals by addressing their barriers to a long-term housing solution. Homeless outreach workers provide everything from assessment and referrals, to mental health services to addictions treatment, employment assistance, and creating weekly, local rental listings for clients. The Homeless Outreach team can be reached directly by phone at 604-703-4524.
  • Emergency Shelter: The Emergency Shelter is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. It is available to adults over the age of 19. Guests receive 3 meals a day and snacks, a hot shower, clean linen, and complimentary toiletries. In addition to addressing the immediate needs of guests, the Emergency Shelter also works with guests to connect them to community supports and figure out their next steps.   • Emergency Disaster Services: Salvation Army Emergency Disaster personnel respond to incidents of various sizes and scopes. In following with its holistic ministry, the Salvation Army provides support that meet the immediate, as well as long-term, physical, emotional and spiritual needs of disaster survivors and responders. The Salvation Army plays a critical role in all aspects of the emergency management continuum: mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery.
  • Clothing and Household Vouchers: Vouchers for clothing and household items are available at the Care and Share front office for individuals who are in need. Vouchers are available Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, from 9:00am - 12:00pm, and 12:30pm - 3:00pm, and are all redeemable on site.
  • Christmas Hampers: Once a year, Christmas hampers are made available to clients in need of assistance over the holidays. Applications for this service are made available at the end of November, and provide applicants with a turkey voucher and other food items necessary to make a family Christmas dinner possible.
