Youth Homeless Shelters

Provided by Cyrus Centre

Shelters and basic need services are offered to homeless youth in Abbotsford and Chilliwack.
Youth Emergency Housing Program (YEHP):
Cyrus Centre provides emergency shelter for youth aged 12-18. The shelters include semi-private rooms and access to a variety of different services and supports. They operate emergency shelters at both the Abbotsford and Chilliwack Centres.

Shelters are open from 8:00 PM - 8:00 AM, 365 days a year. Between 8:00 PM and 10:00 PM youth can shower, do laundry, eat, watch tv, read, play games, and simply hang out. Staff are there around the clock to connect, support, and serve.

To meet eligibility to reside in YEHP, youth must show a housing need (no other safe option) and that it is safe for them and for others to stay at Cyrys Centre (staff will ask non-invasive questions about their mental health and substance use). YEHP is a temporary place for youth to stay while they are working alongside staff towards an alternative stable housing option.

Temporary Shelter Program (TSP):
In addition to the Youth Emergency Housing Program, Cyrus Centre is currently operating a Temporary Shelter Program for youth aged 19-24. Youth can expect a similar experience to that of the primary shelter.
