Literacy, Tutor and Legal Programs

Provides a variety of programs to improve literacy (ESL), homework tutoring for youth and provides legal information.
The following programs are offered:
  • ESL Conversation Circle: Coffee and some light conversation to practice English speaking skills. Offered at the Hope Library.
  • One-on-one ESL Tutoring: Participants are connected with an English tutor.
  • Community Connections: Teaches participants about Hope and ways to get involved in the community.
  • Language Assessments/LINC Online Courses: A facilitator will assess language skills using Canadian Language Benchmarks to formally track an individual's learning progress. May also provide referral to a certified language assessor to qualify for formal academic classes or online courses.
  • IHomework: iHomework provides a safe place for students in grades 7-12 to do their homework. Youth have access to tutors, computers, supplies, health resources, snacks and more. Additionally, youth who live in Silver Creek or the outskirts of town, and lack transportation, will be given rides home!   • Help people learn about Legal Services Society (LSS) services
  • Provide contact information for legal advice, representation and advocacy services and make referrals.
  • Provide access to print and online LSS resources
  • Assist with comprehension and understanding forms
  • Assist with language barriers regarding basic communications
