Withdrawal Management & Detox Services

Provided by Island Health

Provide a range of medical and support services in safe environments that allow for the physical withdrawal from specific drugs and alcohol.
Withdrawal management may be achieved through inpatient services, day programs or in-home services. Services offered are dependent on the community in which clients live. The program consists of:
  • Withdrawal management (social detoxification)
  • Screening and assessment
  • Brief intervention
  • Addictions support
    Referral is required - contact your Local Mental Health and Substance Use team to start this process
Mental Health & Substance Use (MHSU) Navigation Link Phone Number for Clients/Patients: This service link central access phone number will provide help for clients navigating Island Health services for substance use, harm reduction and mental health. People seeking these services can call 1-888-885-8824 to speak directly with a Service Link provider. (This is not a line for health professionals to initiate a referral).

  • Self-referral

Details: Clients can self refer but will require a physician, hospital or police referral. Clients can call their local Mental Health and Substance Use team (link above) to start their self-referral process.
