Starfish Pack Program - Food Program for Children

Provided by Starfish Pack

The program provides hungry students with a weekend backpack filled with non-perishable, easy-to-prepare meals, including two breakfasts, two lunches, and two dinners, along with fresh fruit and snacks, for each weekend of the school year.
How it Works:
Each week, volunteers fill backpacks with 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches, 2 dinners, and snacks and then deliver them to local schools for the students to take home on the weekend. Then, the packs are delivered to local elementary, middle, and high schools. With the help of teachers, administrators, youth workers, and Indigenous support workers, students leave school with a pack full of essentials for the weekend.

Program has a cycle of 8 menus, each menu is child friendly. An example of some of the items includes cereal, oatmeal, pasta and pasta sauce, bagels, whole wheat tortillas, tuna or other canned meats, a variety of soups, chilli, peanut butter, jam, canned vegetables, fresh fruit, and granola bars.
